First, the analyst runs a query on all incidents in the database to determine the allocation of incidents across the four categories of lane-blocking incidents. Click here to view the SQL script for the query. The findings are shown in the figure below. It can be seen that the majority (58 percent) of lane-blocking incidents blocked just one roadway lane. About one quarter of incidents blocked two roadway lanes. Thirteen percent of lane-blocking incidents blocked three lanes, and only six percent of lane-blocking incidents blocked four or more roadway lanes.
