The results are shown in the table below. Considering the occurrence of secondary crashes by time of day, the results show that the percentage of secondary crashes that occurs during the morning and evening peak periods is 23 percent and 25 percent, respectively, which is over the target of 20 percent. Outside of the peak periods, however, the occurrence of secondary crashes is only 15 percent (averaged across the remaining 18 hours of the day).

Considering the occurrence of secondary crashes by major freeway, the results show that the percentage of secondary crashes that occurs on Interstate Highway 2 and Interstate Highway 3 are within the target range (18 percent and 17 percent, respectively). On the other hand, the percentage of secondary crashes that occurs on Interstate Highway 1 and Interstate Highway 4 are over the target – 22 percent and 28 percent, respectively.
